Together we walk!
This year’s Marsden March will feel very different for me. I’ve walked it five times before with my mum by my side (our first one over 10 years ago), but this will be the first year I’m walking it without her, and instead walking in her memory.
My mum battled cancer for an incredible 24 years. Throughout that time, the care and treatment she received from the incredible team at the Royal Marsden gave our family far more time and memories together than we ever expected. Their dedication, compassion and expertise meant the world to us, and we will always be grateful for everything they did for her.
The Marsden March was something Mum and I always did together. Last year she even completed it while recovering from whole brain radiotherapy, which says everything about the strength, determination and spirit she had. We sadly lost Mum in October, but her resilience and positive outlook continue to inspire me every day.
So this year I’ll be walking the 15 miles for her. To say thank you to the Royal Marsden for the care they gave her, and to help support the incredible work they do for so many families like ours.
