Our story

Tuesday 21st Apr

We are walking to thank the Royal Marsden for the incredible care I have received over the years. Without their support, I wouldn’t be here today, able to take on a 15-mile walk to fundraise. The staff have always shown compassion and strength through the most difficult moments, changing my life in ways I can never fully repay.

My journey began in March 2006, aged 9, when severe headaches led to the discovery of three brain tumours and hydrocephalus. I underwent emergency brain surgery, followed by years of chemotherapy, setbacks, and further operations, including relapses and shunt complications. Despite everything, the Marsden has been a constant source of care and hope.

This year marks 20 years since my first brain surgery, a significant chapter for us as a family.

We are walking again this year as a family, our fifteenth year in a row. We want to thank The Marsden for the care and ongoing treatment that Auntie continues to receive. As a family, we always hoped their expertise wouldn’t be needed by anyone else we love, but seeing the same compassion and dedication in Auntie’s care has only deepened our gratitude and given us another reason to fundraise.
