Thank You to the Hospital That Helped My Mum Through Her Cancer Treatment

Thursday 20th Nov

The past months have been incredibly difficult for our family, but one constant source of hope has been the amazing team at The Royal Marsden. From the very beginning, everyone treated my mum with compassion, patience, and genuine care as she fought her battles with cancer.

The doctors, nurses, and support staff guided her through every step, answering all her questions, always being at the end of a phone to ease her worries and making even the hardest days feel manageable. Their kindness and professionalism meant more to us than words can express.

To everyone who helped my mum along this journey—thank you for giving her comfort, strength, and hope when she needed it most. We will always be grateful for everything you have done.

And for the reason I’m doing this walk (my mum)

Watching my mum face cancer has been one of the most emotional and eye-opening experiences of my life. What began as a frightening journey slowly became a powerful reminder of just how strong, brave, and resilient she truly is. Through every appointment, every treatment, every good day and every difficult one, my mum showed a level of courage that left me in awe. She pushed through moments that would break many, yet she never lost her kindness, her humour, or her determination to keep going.

Cancer is a battle no one chooses, but God only gives this fight to the strongest ones and she met it head-on—with dignity, patience, and a quiet strength that inspired everyone around her. I’m so incredibly proud of how she fought, how she held on, and how she kept believing in brighter days even when things felt overwhelming.

She didn’t just get through cancer—she showed me what true strength looks like.

And I feel so lucky enough to be able to enjoy so many more years with this incredible woman that I get to call mum, I’m so proud of you beyond words.
