Helen's story: In June 2011 at a routine dental appointment a lump was found in my neck. Tests seemed to suggest all was ok but then after it was removed came the news that it was in fact Thyroid Cancer. Major surgery followed in January 2012 followed by radioactive iodine treatment, and after further tests I was referred to the Royal Marsden for more treatment. The team led by Dr Newbold have been fabulous and I am now fortunate to be monitored annually as part of their out reach programme. I'm so grateful and take part in the Marsden March to help raise awareness of their fantastic work and to raise much needed funds for it to continue.
The Knightsfield nutters will be donning our trainers on 10th May and doing whatever it takes - walking, crawling or dragging ourselves the 15 miles from London to Sutton. Our feet may hurt and blisters are likely but it will be worth it! The Royal Marsden has done so much for our family and many others so it is a privilege to do something for them. So ready, steady, WALK!😨
