Walking steps in memory of Don

On Sunday 10th May, James and I will be walking 15 miles in memory of Don to raise money for The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust.

The Royal Marsden is a world-leading cancer centre, providing specialist treatment, pioneering research, and compassionate care to patients and their families. The team worked tirelessly to keep Don alive and gave him the very best care possible. We will always be grateful for the support, kindness, and precious extra time they gave us as a family.

This charity is so important because it not only treats cancer but also funds vital research that helps improve and save lives every single day.

By walking 15 miles, we’re hoping to give something back and help ensure other families receive the same incredible care.

If you’re able to donate, no matter how small, we would truly appreciate your support. 💙

First Steps Towards the Marsden March

Sunday 8th Mar

This morning marked the start of something important.

For the first time in a very long time, I headed out for a proper walk — from home to Crystal Palace and back again. Normally I’d just jump in the car like I do for every journey, but today felt different. Today had a purpose... and a little kick in the butt by James my cousin and my husband Jamie 🫣

The route to Crystal Palace and back wasn’t about speed or distance records. It was simply about getting moving again and beginning the journey toward those 15 miles. When you’re not used to walking long distances, even the first few miles can feel like a challenge — but that’s exactly why today mattered.

Training has to start somewhere.

Walking gave me time to think about why we’re doing this. The Marsden March supports the incredible work of The Royal Marsden, helping people affected by cancer and supporting the life-saving research and care they provide every day.

Knowing that made the walk feel bigger than just exercise.

This was the first step in preparing for the challenge ahead. There will definitely be longer walks, sore legs, and probably a few early mornings along the way...But if today proved anything, it’s that the hardest part is simply getting started.

Today was the first step.

Crystal Palace and back.

Training has officially begun.
