Together we walk!

We’re a group of close friends who love a good challenge… especially when it involves 15 miles, questionable decisions, and a LOT of laughter. So when our beautiful Karen suggested we sign up for the Marsden March, we somehow all said yes (we’re still not entirely sure how that happened).

Karen is the heart of our group — full of love, positivity, and a “why not?!” attitude that has previously led her to climb Snowdon… and now drag us along for 15 miles. She inspires us every day with her strength, her spirit, and her willingness to take on anything life throws her way.

Also, fair warning: if you donate, you’re indirectly sponsoring approximately 3,000 photos. Karen loves a photo opportunity (if you know Karen you know what I mean lol), so there will be no shortage of group selfies, scenic shots, and slightly less glamorous mile-12 updates.

Expect plenty of laughs, likely some blisters, and definitely a few moments where we question our life choices somewhere around mile 10… but we’ll keep going, together.

We’re doing this to raise money for an incredible cause — supporting life-saving research and care for those who need it most.

If you can, please donate no matter how big or small and support us (and our poor feet). We promise to make it to the finish line… eventually!

Thank you so much 💛

The Kit Has Landed!!

Thursday 26th Mar

Right, big news… the kit has officially arrived.

Yes, this is not a drill. I am now the proud owner of an actual Marsden March T-shirt, which somehow makes this whole thing feel alarmingly real. Up until now, it’s been more of a “fun idea,” but now… I have fabric-based proof. There’s no backing out when you’ve got the shirt and hat lol.

First impressions:

  • It’s brighter than expected (helpful so I can be spotted when I inevitably start struggling halfway through).
  • It makes me look far more athletic than I actually am.
  • I have already worn it around the house for motivation… and by motivation, I mean snacks.

Training is… happening. Sort of. I’ve been doing a mix of “brisk walking” and “thinking about brisk walking,” which I think balances things out nicely. Every time I go out, I remember that 15 miles is quite far, which feels like important information I probably should have processed earlier.

That said, I am genuinely excited. The cause is incredible, and knowing I’m doing this for something that really matters makes the blisters feel slightly more noble (ask me again mid-way how noble they feel).

Also, huge thank you to everyone who has donated so far — it honestly means a lot and will definitely keep me going when my legs will question my life choices.

Next steps:

  • Wear the T-shirt excessively
  • Continue “training” (definition flexible)
  • Avoid googling “how long is 15 miles really”

If you haven’t donated yet and would like to support (or just enjoy the idea of me attempting this), the link is still open. Every bit helps — and gives me less excuse to quit when it gets tough!

Wish us luck 😅

The Build-Up (a.k.a. How Did We Agree to This?!)

Thursday 19th Mar

So… here we are. Somehow, a casual conversation turned into us signing up to walk 15 miles. Fifteen. Miles. That’s a lot of steps, a lot of snacks, and at least one of us (probably all of us) questioning all our life choices by mile 10.

This is all thanks to our wonderful Karen — how could we say no lol!

As for preparation… what preparation? We’re mostly relying on good vibes, stubbornness, and the promise of snacks at the end. What we are fully prepared for, though, is photos. Karen loves a photo opportunity, so expect plenty — from fresh-faced mile 1 selfies to slightly less glamorous “how much further?” updates later on.

In all seriousness, we’re doing this for an incredible cause and it means so much to us to take part together. There will be lots of laughs, a few complaints, and definitely some aching legs — but we’ll get through it side by side.

Thank you so much if you have already donated — and if not, there’s still time to support us (and our poor feet)!
