Finished the March

Sunday 10th May
With thanks to my sponsors, fellow walkers and March volunteers, some of them dressed up as butterflies or dinosaurs , plus Londoners and Surrey folk who handed out water and biscuits made it to the 15 mile finish point in the rain.
Sitting waiting in the rain for a train to take me back to London as I don’t think I’d be up to walking a further fifteen miles

Marsden march start

Sunday 10th May
Thank you so much everyone for sponsoring me. In a cafe near the start point with a wonderful family of Marsden march walkers of all ages. Honoured to be walking for the Marsden hospital today with such a lot of amazing people who all want the same thing for more people to survive cancer due to lifesaving research and treatment

Thank you everyone

Sunday 3rd May
Thank you so much to everyone who has sponsored or who will sponsor  me and or who has wished me good luck.
Today I walked 21729 steps 9.4 miles so hopefully if I keep going I’ll be on track to complete the 15 mile march on Sunday

Training

Saturday 2nd May
It is fair to say that with blisters and bunions i  am far from in peak condition to do the 15 mile Marsden march.
But where there is a will there is a way.
So yesterday I bought loads of blister plasters and I’ve started training. I walked 3 miles last night in 51 minutes, today I aim to walk 7 miles.
The main thing I need to be able to do is walk 5 miles without stopping because there are checkpoints every five miles . I reckon if I rest every five miles I should be able to complete the Marsden March.

Why I’m walking the Marsden March

Saturday 2nd May
I’m walking the Marsden March to thank the Royal Marsden for saving the lives of my mother and many other cancer patients and where it has not been possible to save their lives for giving them extra time with their families and caring for them compassionately. Also to thank the marsden’s dedicated team of doctors, nurses, assistant nurses, researchers and volunteers and other personnel for doing such a brilliant job.

Thank you to my Sponsors
