Tiny Feet, Big Heart: Ellie's 5 Mile March for the Royal Marsden!
Tuesday 5th May
On one random Sunday last year, Ellie and I were walking to a local park, we saw crowd of people do the charity walk for the Royal Marsden, and she saw a bunch of kids her age taking part. It really got her thinking. She looked at me and said, "Daddy, I want to do this next year and raise money like what our school did... and just like how you did for your half-marathon!"
I honestly didn’t think she’d remember, but here we are!
Ellie is 6 years old now, and she’s officially signed up to do the 5-mile march. I'll be right by her side (mostly making sure she doesn't get distracted by the ice cream shops on the route), starting from King George’s Playing Fields and walking all the way to the hospital in Sutton.
It’s a massive distance for her little legs, but she’s so determined to get that medal at the finish line .
The Royal Marsden is a legend of a hospital, and Ellie is so excited to help them out. If you’ve got a few spare quid to sponsor her, it would honestly make her day (and definitely help her keep going when she hits that 4-mile wall, just like I did when I was at 20km in the half-marathon :D ).
