This is a photo of me last year in the Royal Marsden hospital a couple of days after my surgery, a 10 hour breast reconstruction called a DIEP (using my tummy fat), receiving the amazing care of the team there, and this is still continuing now. Following 2 lumpectomies last year, cancerous cells (DCIS) were still present in my breast tissue. I was advised to undergo a single mastectomy, and due to previous treatment, with guidance from my amazing team at the Marsden, I decided to undergo a double mastectomy. I cannot thank the team enough for the care and attention they have taken with me every step of the way along this unwanted journey.
I am walking with some of my wonderful friends who supported me along the way, we all want to give something back for the amazing treatment I have received and also, do our little bit to prevent cancer and make treatments kinder.
