Another Step along the Way!!

Sunday 23rd Feb
In November 2022 I was diagnosed with Stage 4 Lymphoma.  I started chemo/immunotherapy treatment at East  Surrey Hospital and then went to to have life-changing CAR-T treatment firstly at the Royal Marsden Sutton and then at the Royal Marsden Chelsea.  On the 9th September 2023, the day before my 70th birthday, I was told I was in remission!
The cancer had attacked my hip so for most of 2023 I was either in a wheelchair or on crutches.  In February 2024 I was lucky enough to have a hip replacement at the leading Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital in North London. Then I had to learn to walk again!  By August 2024 I was walking unaided - if a little slowly!  A year on from February 2024, I am walking almost normally and getting better all the time!
I have set myself the challenge of walking between the two Marsden Hospitals as a thank you to all the wonderful doctors and nurses who looked after me - and to prove to myself that I can do it!  If you feel able to sponsor Team Hoy, two or three pounds would make all the difference.  Thank you so much for reading this.  Love Diane x
