“Pain,power,and purpose:why I’m walking this 5k”
Saturday 18th AprThis May, I’ll be taking part in the 5K walk for the Royal Marsden Cancer Charity—but for me, this isn’t just a walk. It’s a statement. It’s everything I’ve been through, everything I’ve fought, and everything I refuse to let break me.
A year ago, I was in a very different place. Cancer didn’t just challenge my body—it tested my mind, my strength, and every part of who I am. There were moments I felt completely swallowed by it, like I had nothing left to give. It stripped me down, physically and emotionally, in ways I never imagined.
But here’s the truth: I’m still here.
And not just surviving—fighting, rebuilding, and becoming someone stronger than I was before.
This journey hasn’t been easy. There’s pain that people don’t see. There are days when my body feels like it’s working against me, when even the smallest step feels heavy. But I’ve learned how to carry it. I’ve learned how to show up anyway.
Training for this 5K isn’t just about fitness. It’s about reclaiming my body. It’s about proving to myself that I’m not defined by what I went through—but by how I rise from it.
Every early morning, every workout, every step I take is a reminder: I’m still in control. I’m still pushing forward.
This walk is for me—but it’s also for anyone who has faced cancer, who is facing it right now, or who has lost someone to it. It’s for the fighters, the survivors, and the ones who didn’t get the chance to keep going.
I’m walking with purpose. I’m walking with pain. I’m walking with strength.
And I’m not done yet.
This is just the next chapter.
