In memory of Luca....and for all in need of our help

We started this process a while back - many of us on the team had various reasons; some because they just felt a need due to help, others had/have a more personal connection. For me it was becuase a 21 year old young man who is close to my heart (and 100's of others) was diagnosed a couple of years back with a tumour. Then about a year ago was told that treatment and medication was propbably not going to be effective anymore....... A couple of weeks back he lost his fight with this dreaded desease and he was cruelly taken away from his family and friends. He never deserved what happened to him (nobody does) and was by all accounts the saddest day oy my life let alone his parents, his family and close friends
He was one of the most special type of person..... And it broke many a persons heart and spirit when that day came. 
So we must try our best to help all the other people that find themselves in these circumstances.... I am walking in memory of Luca and also for many 1000's of others, to raise money to give them a fighting chance and better care....

A (walking!) holiday to remember

Thursday 25th Apr
Had an excellent time in Portugal during the Easter Break.
Was very proud of the fact we covered over 45 miles of walking which was excellent exercise for us all and great training for me. I followed that up a couple of days after we got back with a 9 mile walk! Many thanks to Julie who does the long walks with me!

Sunday 7th Apr
It took 2 hours to do just over 7 miles…. I will be aiming to add one and half miles a week till a few days before the event…

Monday 1st Apr
Happy Easter Monday.. 
yesterday was my third walk in 3 days and the longest so far; just over 5 miles on fairly flat terrain…..but I am quite knackered and sore today. 
Got to put that training on to get through 15 miles….
See how I feel later and may put on a few miles….

I’m in Superhero mode now!
