Kidney Cancer Diagnosis and Surgery

Wednesday 25th Feb

Hi everyone,

I wanted to share a personal health update that’s been a major part of my life recently. A routine scan detected a cancerous tumour in one of my kidneys, which came as a complete shock. After further tests and discussions with specialists, the decision was made to remove the affected kidney entirely through a nephrectomy.

I was incredibly fortunate to be treated at The Royal Marsden Hospital, and I can’t praise them enough. From the initial consultations to the surgery and post-op care, the entire team was exceptional. The expertise, compassion, and attention to detail were second to none – truly world-class. The staff made what could have been an overwhelming experience feel manageable and supported every step of the way. I’m so grateful for their skill and kindness during such a tough time.

I’m now in recovery mode, taking things one day at a time. It’s major surgery, so I’m focusing on resting, following the medical advice, and slowly building my strength back up. The remaining kidney is doing its job, and regular follow-ups are in place to keep everything monitored.

Cancer is scary, but catching it early and having access to brilliant care makes all the difference. I’m feeling positive about the road ahead and wanted to say a huge thank you to my family, friends, and the amazing team at the Royal Marsden for getting me through this.

Wishing everyone good health and strength – and if you’re dealing with something similar, know that there are incredible places and people out there fighting alongside you.

Take care,
