Together we walk!
Team Karen is made of two university friends who have known each other for over 3 decades and gone through the good, the bad and the ugly together. Here are our stories as to why we have chosen to take part in this walk:
Vanesssa
The Royal Marsden Hospital has many personal connections for me. My lovely mum worked there for many years, was always in awe of their incredible care for patients and groundbreaking research and hugely proud to be part of that journey. More recently, my father in law was treated there, thankfully successfully. Along the way. I have known many people who have been patients of RMH, some still with us, some not. It is an incredible place, offering expert care, reassurance and hope to people at their most vulnerable and I am proud to support it in any way I can. I am walking in memory of my mum to support this amazing cause, which was so close to her heart.
Emma
Like millions of other my families I have been affected by cancer. My father died 30 years ago of lung cancer but my mum fought breast cancer 13 years ago and won! Thanks to fundraising events like this the treatment options have significantly improved and more of us are surviving the big C. A massive thank you to the Royal Marsden and all of the other cancer researchers that have made this possible x
