Support Team Marcelline – The Banham Marsden March 2025

On Sunday 11th May 2025, my family and I (Team Marcelline) will be taking part in The Banham Marsden March — a 15-mile walk between The Royal Marsden’s hospitals in Chelsea and Sutton — to raise vital funds for The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity.

This year’s walk is deeply personal. I am walking in memory of my wonderful mother, Diana, who we lost to cancer in April 2015, and my beloved brother Nik, who passed away in March 2025. It has been 10 years since my mum’s passing, and losing Nik so recently has been devastating for our family.

The Royal Marsden played an extraordinary role in both my mother’s and my brother’s journeys, providing them with outstanding care, compassion, and support. Their work extended far beyond treatment — offering hope, dignity, and humanity in the most difficult times.

The Royal Marsden is not just a hospital or a hospice; it is a world-leading centre for cancer research, innovation, and treatment. Alongside delivering exceptional patient care, they are at the forefront of groundbreaking research, developing new ways to diagnose, treat, and ultimately cure cancer. Facilities like the new Oak Cancer Centre in Sutton bring researchers and clinicians together under one roof, helping accelerate discoveries and save lives.

By supporting The Banham Marsden March, you are helping fund life-saving research, cutting-edge technology, and world-class care — giving thousands of families like mine hope when it’s needed most.

Every step we take is in honour of Diana, Nik, and all those who have faced cancer with courage. Every donation, no matter the size, will help change lives.

Thursday 1st May
Sutton could soon become one of the world's leading centres for cancer research and treatment after plans for a hub that have been 20 years in the making were submitted today (Thursday, May 1). If approved, work on the London Cancer Hub could now start as early as next year”

Connections with the neighbouring Institute of Cancer Research and The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust, which share the site, would also be improved”
