Ten years. Fifteen miles. Two hospitals that changed everything.
Back in 2015, my world stopped pretty suddenly. I was diagnosed with testicular cancer, and just like that, life as I knew it went on hold. What followed was one of the hardest things I've ever been through - but I didn't go through it alone. The Royal Marsden were there every single step of the way, and honestly, I don't think I'll ever be able to fully put into words what that meant.
This June, I will have hit my 10-year all clear. Ten years. Not everyone can say that, and for that I am forever grateful.
So me and my team have signed up for the Marsden March to say thank you. Not just from me, but from my family and friends too, because cancer doesn't just affect the person sitting in the chair, or in my case the bed. It reaches out to everyone who loves them, and the Marsden looked after all of us in ways we didn't even know we needed.
The care at the Royal Marsden isn't just medical - it's human. The nurses who remembered your name. The consultants who gave it to you straight but somehow still made you feel like everything was going to be okay. The quiet moments where someone just sat with you. That stuff stays with you.
Every penny raised goes straight back into that care - funding research and equipment, supporting patients, and making sure the next person who walks through those doors gets the same fighting chance I did.
If you can spare anything at all, it genuinely means the world. And if you've been touched by cancer yourself - whether it was you, or someone you love - then you already know why we're doing this.
We'll be walking in May. Legs willing, blisters and all.
